Going; causing a ripple effect

Pushing into the offensive can cause a ripple effect.

Tyler Going has played for a total of 9 years and on a variety of teams from provincial based teams to city teams and currently with his high school. Most of these experiences have allowed others to see and acknowledge the hard work that he commits to his teams. Receiving twice the honour of ‘Rookie of the Year 2014’ with the Okotoks Composite High School Falcons and with the Big Rock Conference. Adding to the impressive list from 2014, 2013 turned out to also be a great year for Tyler received the CAMFA ‘All Star Award’ and the Foothills Eagles ‘Defensive MVP.’ Approaching his Grade 12 year, Tyler isn’t so much enamoured with the potential of winning awards as he is more excited about leading the team in a senior position and his potential future with the sport.

Tyler has many options and opportunities in front of him in regards to the future. Wanting to attend university and possibly getting into business school, but his first goal is football. Considering that he is still a little apprehensive in making a solid commitment to what he would like to do in the future, one thing is very much assured and that is he would like to play football. With some considerations already in the works, he has talked with Simon Fraser University, and he would like to have an official visit with SFU and with University of British Colombia. But there is a backup plan if all else fails, “I’m interested in going to play junior football for a few years before university ball, maybe with the Kelowna Suns.”

With the recruitment process not adding too much stress, Tyler is trying to take his time to stay focused and on school, family, and football. “The most influential people in my life would have to be my parents; they push me to do better every day.” This just shows where Tyler finds his platitude on school and football. With his teammates being the other half of the inspiration equation, he knows that moments that create memories wouldn’t happen without the amazing team he is on. “Last season’s highlight was winning the Tier 2 Provincials beating St. Joe Celtics 69-15.” With the above, it just shows a decent summary of this young man’s beliefs and strengths.

As for keeping with the current game and practice schedule and of course prepping for the off season, Tyler’s continues to commitment time to his physical training.  Starting with four days in the gym with a variety of different types of weight, and endurance types of training he looks forward to applying all of his skills to his on field play. “This off season, I am going to push myself extra hard to be better on and off the field.”
