Overall, there were three main decisive factors in why he chose the Axemen – atmosphere, academics and the competitive drive of the football program.

“The atmosphere there is amazing; it’s a very family oriented program which is something that’s always been important to me and has been a big part of the teams I have played on,” elaborated Heide.  “I was also able to see the team going through a workout and the amount of competition and drive in the players was exciting to see.”

“I can’t wait to get out there and compete with the group of players they have. The small class sizes of Acadia are also a draw for me as it will help me succeed academically.”

Recently, the lineman helped the Saskatoon Hilltops of the Prairie Football Conference (PFC) in the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) win four Canadian Bowl Championships.  During his time there, he has been selected as a CJFL All-Canadian and a PFC All-Star.

Previous to the Hilltops, Heide played 9-man football with the Warman Wolverines.

In 2012, Heide helped Team Canada win the gold medal at the International Federation of America Football (IFAF) Under 19 Championship.
