Bishop’s Gaiters to hire assistant coach (offensive coordinator)

Bishop’s University is seeking a qualified and dedicated individual to fill a regular part-time position as Assistant Football Coach in the Athletics Department. Reporting to the Head Football Coach, the incumbent will be responsible to assist in the planning and implementation of the football program at Bishop’s University. In addition the incumbent will assist with the evaluation, identification and recruiting of football players, help organize football school and assist with the purchasing of football equipment. This position has a flexible work week of approximate 20 hours, as per the Supervisor’s requirements.

Nature of duties and responsibilities

· Perform all coaching duties in a manner that is consistent with the operation of a successful varsity program and be involved in team selection, personnel management, team and individual goal setting, individual skill acquisition and refinement programs, tactical and technical preparation, practice planning, preparation and implementation, game preparation, scouting, film breakdown and evaluation, athlete performance goal setting, program evaluation, maintenance of regular contact with athletes, etc.;

· Provide administrative assistance and support, attending and conducting meetings on the day-to-day requirements of the program;

· Assist with the development and implementation of a comprehensive and effective national recruitment strategy.

Qualifications and Requirements

· University education, with minimum 5 years of relevant football experience;

· Comprehensive knowledge of football coaching strategies and systems, the ability to teach, coach, and prepare for practice and games at a national level;

· Creative thinking and the ability to work in a team environment;

· Ability to use good judgment, solid decision making, and high level of flexibility;

· Organizational skills and efficient time management is critical;

· Knowledge of the University environment, rules and regulations, process and administration is essential;

· Excellent communication skills in English (oral and written), and working knowledge of French;

· Excellent communication, oral and written skills, and proficiency in computer software applications.

Classification: *Class 13 $23.27 to $30.37 per hour APBU – ( unionized position)

*This salary scale is presently under review and may be subject to change.
