Bishop’s land Brampton recruit (VIDEO)

Brampton receiver becomes first recruit to join RSEQ team’s 2015 class.

Nathan Walker is moving provinces to pursue his CIS career.

Recently, the 5’9, 160 pound receiver (slotback) from Brampton, Ontario committed to the Bishop’s Gaiters.  Walker will join the Gaiters for the 2015 RSEQ season.

Ultimately, the tradition of academic excellence and the strength of the football program were the main reasons Walker chose the Sherbrooke, Quebec campus. Moreover, it didn’t hurt that the Gaiters took a keen interest in the Ontario slotback.

“Bishop’s has a great reputation for its academic and has the programs that I am interested in pursuing,” explained Walker of his decision.  “The small and intimate environment felt very close knit and like an extended family.”

“The history and tradition of Bishop’s speaks for itself.  They continue to be a football factor for great players at the CIS and CFL level.  I see myself growing in their system and becoming a better player.  During my conversations with Coach Mackey and Coach Bailey, I felt that they were genuinely interested in me as an individual as much as they were about me as a football player.”

Walker is currently playing his final season with St. Roch Ravens of the Region of Peel Secondary School Athletic Association (ROPSSAA). He has guided the Ravens to an undefeated season so far (7-0) and the team is ranked 16th on the #CFC50.

In addition to the Ravens, the offensive standout has previously suited up for the Brampton Bulldogs of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).
