CEGEP recruit opts for X-Men

CEGEP athlete joins AUS team’s 2015 class

StFX X-Men have announced the addition of Faheem Andy Jean-Pierre to their football program.

The 6’1, 210 pound athlete from Terrebonne, Quebec will join the team for the 2015 AUS season.

“Faheem is a physical player,” commented X-Men Head Coach Gary Waterman.  “He has showcased an ability to play in the box, in the flats, or over top.”

“We really like Faheem; he is a great addition to this defense and we also think he has the ability to be a standout on special teams.”

Jean-Pierre recently completed his CEGEP career with Division 1 team, Montmorency Nomades.  Previous to the Nomades, he guided the Saint-Leonard Cougars to a Championship in 2010.

For his part, Jean-Pierre chose the X-Men because of academic, the positive direction the football program is heading as well as the bonds he has forged with the coaching staff.

“I committed to StFX because I know that they’re headed in the right direction; they lost against Mount Allison and had a big comeback in the semi-final against Acadia,” explained Jean-Pierre who will be entering the Bachelor of Arts program this fall.  “We’re headed in the right direction I’m telling you!”

“Also, the smaller classes that make learning easier and the fact that StFX is one of the top undergraduate schools in Canada helped me with my decision. I have developed a good relationship with Coach Gord Gallimore.”
