Coach Barresi to talk offensive systems

BIO:
Jamie Barresi was named head coach of the University of Ottawa football program in January of 2013 and enters his second season at the helm. He guided the team to a 5-3 record in 2013 and oversaw the offence which ranked second in the nation in yards per game and was one of just five schools to average over 500 yards of offence.
Barresi played four years as quarterback for the Gee-Gees from 1976-1979, including a trip to the national semi-final in ‘76. In his fifth year, he decided to help coach the Gee-Gees and later moved on to finish his eligibility at the University of Guelph. After finishing up his football career at Guelph, Barresi came back to the University of Ottawa as an assistant coach for two more years.
His coaching career sky-rocketed from that point as he moved into a graduate assistant coaching role at Penn State. In his first year there, the Lions made it to the National Championship Game. He went on to spend a total of twenty seasons coaching in the NCAA at notable football programs such as Florida and Wake Forest, before returning to Canada.
Joining the CFL as an offensive coordinator in 2004, Barresi started his Canadian coaching career in his hometown of Hamilton, Ont. for the Tiger-Cats. Since then he has coached on the offensive side of the ball for the B.C. Lions, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers where he guided the team to a 2011 Grey Cup appearance as the offensive coordinator. In his final CFL season before heading to uOttawa, he served as the run game coordinator for the Edmonton Eskimos.
“There are too many highlights in my career. You take one and you just nullify the 20 other ones,” explained Barresi about his coaching experiences. “It’s just the people I’ve been able to work with – those are all the highlights.”
Barresi earned his undergraduate degrees from uOttawa in Kinanthropology in 1980, and Education in 1982. He also holds a Master of Science degree from Penn State and a Master of Arts degree in Sport Administration from the University of Florida. Finally, Barresi completed his doctorate in exercise and sports science from Penn State in 1992, specializing in motor learning and control.
