BALFOUR REDMEN VERSUS SHELDON WILLIAMS COLLEGIATE SPARTANS (RIFL – QUARTERFINALS):

There is one intriguing matchup this year in the RIFL playoffs.

When the third seeded Balfour Redmen meet the six seeded Sheldon Williams Collegiate Spartans, it will mark the first time this season these two teams have faced each other.

However, Redmen Head Coach Darcy Olynyk has a little bit of an idea of what to expect from their opponents on Friday.

“Sheldon is largely pass centred with their offense,” assessed the Redmen Head Coach.  “We will need to shut down quarterback Ellis Richards.”

As for the Redmen, there are a trio of players that will be counted upon to lead.  One thing to watch for is the offensive magic between pivot Mark Grain and running back Ryan Schienbein.  On defense, linebacker Jon Stricker will be a presence on the unit.

“We will rely on running back Ryan Schienbein, quarterback Mark Grain and the receiving corps to control the ball,” offered Olynyk.  “On, defense we will be led by linebacker Jon Stricker and rely on our secondary to keep receivers in check.”

Olynyk outlined what the keys will be for the Redmen to emerge victorious on Friday.

“We will like to stay balanced on offense and send pressure on defense,” said the Redmen Head Coach.  “We have a very complete team and should have a great game against Sheldon Williams.”
