CFC OVFL Game of the Week Preview: “We are excited for the challenge”

The varsity Cambridge Lions’ winning streak continues to 3-0.

The team’s dominant 49-7 victory over the Halton Cowboys last week was even more impressive when coach Anthony Maggiacomo mentioned the team’s circumstances.

“Everyone got to play,” explained Maggiacomo.  “We found a way to win despite missing many players.”

This week, the Lions prepare for their toughest match yet, as they will host the Niagara Spears in a battle for top spot in the Adam Conference.

Maggiacomo says his team is looking forward to the competition.

“We are excited for the challenge,” added Maggiacomo.  “We expect the game to be close, the team who limits mistakes and executes best will have the best opportunity to win,”.

Maggiacomo emphasized one change needed to ensure a Lions’ victory.

“We are still taking too many penalties,” explained Maggiacomo.  “If we want to keep winning, they need to be limited,”.

Kickoff between the Cambridge Lions and Niagara Spears is Saturday, under the lights at Jacob Hespeler Secondary School at 8:00pm.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
