The Canada Prep Raiders won their first game in its four year history by downing Penn Hills Indians (Pittsburg, ranked #3235) by a score of 50 to 42. The nine Americans on the twenty-seven man roster were huge in the victory. After a slow first quarter, former Buffalo high school MVP QB Tyree Brown led the Raiders offense up and down the field. His two favourite target on the day were fellow Buffalo native Brandon Brown and Florida native Ronald Patterson. The defense was led by Oklahoma native Travis Degrate who had two interceptions including a 47 yard pick six and Chervendy Dorsainvil (Ottawa) who had some big tackles. The Raiders play the Highland Hornets (Medina Ohio #4062) this Friday.
Football North (Clarkson) played their first game ever and they looked like a first year team, playing their first game. Seven turnovers, including three on special teams, led to the 38-13 loss against the Ottawa Glandorf Titans (Ottawa Ohio, ranked #1727). Turning in strong performances for Football North were receiver Nick Mardner 5 receptions, 81 yards, TD (Oakville) and defensive linemen Temi Owoaje (Brampton) and Deointe Knight (Ajax) who had two sacks. Football North’s next opponent is Columbus’s St. Francis de Sales Stallions (Columbus Ohio #417).
Royal Imperial Knights (St. Catherines) completed their scrimmage schedule against a Junior Varsity team. The thirty man roster is lead by senior QB Mason Brown, and receivers #CFC100 2016 Gordon Lam, Riley Boersma, and Christian Philips. They open their non-conference season versus NorthEast High School in Philadelphia (Philadelphia, ranked #1347) this Saturday.
The rest of the #CFC10 Non-Public teams start in earnest next week.
