#CFC100 DB Agbeyegbe commits to NCAA’s Yale Bulldogs (VIDEO)

From the moment that #CFC100 ranked Tosan Agbeyegbe received an offer from NCAA Division 1 Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) team Yale Bulldogs, it always stuck in his mind.

After a lengthy a recruitment process, the 6’1, 200 pound defensive back from Brampton, Ontario announced on social media yesterday afternoon that he has verbally committed to the Bulldogs:

Ultimately, Agbeyegbe said the bond he built with the football program as well as the gridiron possibility that presented itself were the central reasons he made the decision to commit to the team.

“I’ve been building a relationship with the coaches and they all let me know they wanted me to join the Yale Football family,” elaborated the #CFC100 defensive back.  “The opportunity to play at Yale is too good to pass up.”

“I believe I will be successful on and off the field there.”

Back on July 11th, Agbeyegbe announced via twitter that he was offered by the Bulldogs.  Overall, his final decision came between the Bulldogs and Dartmouth Big Green.  Overall, he is ecstatic to join the Bulldogs and is looking forward to making a significant impact in future years.

“I am happy to have made the decision,” commented Agbeyegbe.  “I would like to thank Coach Asselta, Coach Vashel, Coach Henley and the rest of the Yale staff for believing in me.”

“I believe I will be able to contribute to the secondary at any position the staff believes is best for me.”

Agbeyegbe will extend a Canadian connection with the Bulldogs.  Most recently, Indianapolis Colts running back Tyler Varga completed an illustrious career with the Bulldogs.  Varga received several honours and accolades during his NCAA career.

Currently, Agbeyegbe is attending Canada Prep Academy.  Hr started playing in 2009 with the Brampton Bulldogs of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).

Moreover, he has suited up for the St. Augustine Falcons of the Region of Peel Secondary School Athletic Association (ROPSSAA).

Among the honours he has received include All Midwest Elite 7v7 Tournament 1st Team Defense, IDFFL Team Canada 7v7 Tryout Top Defender and St. Augustine Junior Athlete of the Year.

In June 2016, Agbeyegbe was ranked on the #CFC100 CLASS 2016 Rankings.

For the #CFC100 defensive back, there is a sense of relief now that he has made his decision on his gridiron and academic future.  Now the focus will turn on this upcoming fall season with Canada Prep Academy.

“My attention is now solely focused on helping my Canada Prep team have a good season,” said Agbeyegbe.  “We have a tough schedule again this season so I’m looking forward to competing.”

Moreover, he will continue to make final preparations before he joins the Bulldogs in 2016.

“To prepare for Yale, I’m going to do the same things that got me here – work hard, hit the books and lead by example,” offered the Ontario defensive standout.

With his commitment to Yale, Agbeyegbe’s dream to play at the next level in the NCAA has become a reality. He acknowledges that his gridiron journey which has enabled him to get to this point in his career would not have been possible without the encouragement and guidance of several individuals and organizations.

“I would like to thank my coaches and teammates at Canada Prep for putting me in a position to be successful,” expressed the #CFC100.  “I would also like to thank IDFFL, Brampton Bulldogs and Ontario Football for believing in me early on in my playing career.”
