#CFC50 2016 high school RANKINGS (7): Stakes getting higher as playoffs begin

For the seventh year in a row, Canadafootballchat.com (CFC) is pleased to bring you the national high school football rankings known as the #CFC50. The #CFC50 rankings considers all conference and non-conference games (in Canada and the United States) while scrimmages are not evaluated (there is no such thing as an exhibition game – those are non-conference games).

How is the #CFC50 evaluated?

Leagues included in rankings: British Columbia AAA Varsity, Alberta Tier One, Saskatchewan 12-man 4A, Manitoba AAA Varsity, Ontario OFSAA Bowl AAA qualified teams, Quebec Juvenile Division 1, New Brunswick 12-man, Nova Scotia Tier 1.

The #CFC50 is a RELATIVE RANKING that considers top tier leagues from all eight high school playing provinces (minimum one team represented from each province) and the strength of the league that they play in. Additional criteria used to determine the relative ranking are the ability to accomplish winning a championship, the impact players and performers on that team (ie. #CFC100s, CDN All-Stars etc.), and a team’s coaching and recent tradition.

The CFC Scouting Bureau consists of CFC Reporters, CFC Scouts, and selected local reporters and scouts who submit local ranking results on a weekly basis. The #CFC50 is released every Monday (other than on Holidays) at 12 noon.

No. 1 St. Francis Browns – The Browns had no trouble taking apart the Notre Dame Pride in their win 43-7 in the highly anticipated game of the week. It won’t be until the Alberta Championship that we think this team will be challenged.

No. 2 W.F. Herman Green Griffins – The Griffins hold steady as they have all season at No. 2 with their win 39-0.

No. 3 Bev Facey Falcons – Facey remains undefeated at 6-0 with their win against AOB. What a better way to end Senior Night then with a big ‘W’.

No. 4 A. N. Myer Marauders – Myer dominated from start to finish. The entire senior team got in the game and 5 different players scored TD’s including the 6’4/310 OG who pounded it in for a 2 yard score.

No. 5 Séminaire Saint-François Blizzard – The Blizzard continue to freeze their opponents as they slowly work up this list. They’ve cracked the top 5, will they continue climb?

No. 6 Leboldus Golden Suns – In a nail bitter of a game, Leboldus falls 2 spots as they were almost dethroned by a very talented Riffel team 25-22.

No. 7 Mount Douglas Rams – In a battle of the provincial No. 1 ranked teams, Mt. Doug came out on top 28-14 against Notre Dame who had been on a run up to this point.

No. 8 Cardinal Newman Cardinals – Cardinal Newman continues to climb one spot at a time with their win this week against Bishop Tonnos, 48-0, “firing on all cylinders!”

No. 9 St. Paul’s Crusaders – The Crusaders cruise to a win, 62-0 against Garden City. Not much to say here, steady as you go.

No. 10 Collège Notre-Dame Cactus – The Cactus remain at No. 10. Bravo!
