#CFC50 Games of the week PREVIEW (West/Atlantic) [4]: Who will secure home field advantage

We will be previewing the #CFC50 Games of the Week for Canada West and the Maritimes (Ontario and Quebec are done separately).

While this will be generally geared towards the #CFC50 ranked teams, we want to hear from you if there are great rivalry games or exciting matchups, regardless of tier or division, that we aren’t aware of. Send us a ‘heads up’ by WEDNESDAYĀ each week and we’ll see what we can do:Ā [email protected].

*Note: Some information was not available at press time.Ā It will be added as it becomes available.

….and now let’s get to it with this week’s #CFC50 Games of the Week

[#CFCscoresĀ for BC]

No. 12 Terry Fox Ravens (1-0, 0-2) v. WJ Mouat Hawks (0-1) (Fri. Sep 30)
In this game, you’ll see traditional rivals square off in Port Coquitlam. Featured athletes for Terry Fox are Ā #CFC100 RBĀ Jeremie Kankolongo who had well over 100/yds rushing and also led his team defensively (9 solo tackles). WJ Mouat is not without their own special players, one of them beingĀ #CFC100 ATH Nelson Lokombo who led the Hawks in receiving last week averaging over 50/yds per reception and is a threat to take it to the house on any given play.

No. 16 New Westminster Hyacks (1-0, 2-1) v. Notre Dame JugglersĀ  (Fri. Sep 30)
These two teams played each other in 2015 in what was one of the more competitive games in AAA last season. New West was able to run the ball last year which is what effectively won the game for them. They will look to do the same this year. Notre Dame on the other hand is riding a 2 game, non-conference, winning streak coming into the game. Players to watch are New WestĀ #CFC100 ATH Trew Dancey andĀ #CFC100 DE Prento Durigon who contribute offensively and defensively. Both prospects are capable of the big play whether it’s with the ball in their hands or tackling somebody.

No. 17 Vancouver College Fighting Irish (0-1, 2-1) v. Belmont Bulldogs (0-1) (Sat. Oct. 1)
The Irish will look to get back on track when they take on the Bulldogs who have traditionally had a really hard time competing with VC.Ā #CFC100 QB Jacob Samuels will look to get Vancouver College back in the win column with a solid performance asĀ #CFC100 RBĀ Michael Le will look to add to his already impressive rushing total early on in the season. Belmont’sĀ #CFC100 OLĀ Dontae Bull will have his hands full as he takes on one of the most complete high school football teams in all of the lower mainland.

No. 45 St. Thomas More Knights (0-1, 1-1) v. Lord Tweedsmuir (1-0) (Fri. Sep. 30)
For us at CFC, we find this game extremely intriguing as both teams have shown improvement this season. Another interesting sidebar to this game will be Laurent Deslauriers who is currently the co-head coach/defensive coordinator for Tweedsmuir, had deep ties to STM. Although the game doesn’t feature any #CFC100 prospects, it will no doubt be a dog fight as STM attempts to get back on a winning track versus a Lord Tweedsmuir team with its blowout win in week 1.

No. 49 South Delta Sun Devils (1-0, 2-0) v. Carson Graham (0-1) (Fri. Sep 30)
Carson Graham’s move from AA to AAA will not go smoothly. It will take a few years for them to effectively get caught up to speed with the rest of the team’s in their division. Whether the Sun DevilsĀ #CFC100 LBĀ Grant McDonald plays or not this weekend, the score will still be heavily in favour of South Delta.

[#CFCscores for AB]

No. 1 St. Francis Browns (2-0, 1-0) v. Bishop Grandin Ghosts (0-1-1) (Thurs. Sep 29)
The Browns will move to 4-0 as they play Bishop Grandin. We’re not sure how long St. Francis’Ā #CFC100 LBĀ Joseph Dutton, #CFC100 RECĀ Jacob Izquierdo, andĀ  #CFC100 OLĀ Logan Bandy will be in the game depending on the score.

No. 3 Bev Facey Falcons (3-0, 2-0) v. Spruce Grove Panthers (3-1) (Fri. Sep 30)
Provincial No. 1 Bev Facey faces the No. 3 Panthers in what should be their most competitive game to date. There will beĀ #CFC100 RBĀ Chuba Hubbard andĀ #CFC100 OL/DL James Duffie Jr. featured in this game. Hubbard did not play last week due to illness, however, the Falcons still came out with a victory.

No. 23 Henry Wise Wood Warriors (2-0, 0-1) v. Bishop O’Byrne Bobcats (1-1)Ā (Fri. Sep 30)
This game will featureĀ #CFC100 DEĀ Tyrese Best.

No. 15 Harry Ainlay Titans (4-0, 1-0) v. Ross Sheppard Thunderbirds (0-3) (Fri. Sep 30)
Harry Ainlay will look to stay undefeated against Ross Sheppard. The Titan’sĀ #CFC100 LBĀ Tadi Siwira will be featured in this game.

No. 46 L.C.I. Rams (1-0, 1-2) v. Raymond Comets (2-2)Ā
Usually the Must-See game in Southern Alberta each year this one is once again one you donā€™t want to miss.Ā  Both teams are playing at a consistently high level at the same time for the first time in a few years.Ā  The Rams come at you with a strong offense lead by Team Canada U18 tailback Tanner Sudo while the Comets can also put up points with a two-pronged attack led by Taylor Hillyer on the ground and Brady Sillito through the air.Ā  Defensively, it may look like the Rams are a bit leaky giving up an average of 33 points a game in four games but when you consider that they havenā€™t had any gimmes on the schedule so far including #4 Harry Ainlay and #1 St. Francis, theyā€™ve been tested like no other school in the province so far.Ā  The Comets have played similar type opponents but will rely on Justin Martin, who had two strip sacks that lead to TDā€™s last week vs. Winston Churchill to lead the way defensively against the Rams.Ā  The winner gets to host the Tier I Provincial play in game on the first weekend of November. Game is Friday, September 30, 7:30 p.m., at the University of Lethbridge Community Stadium (Lethbridge).

No. 38 Notre Dame Pride (1-0, 0-1) v. Bishop Carrol Cardinals (0-1-0) (Thurs. Sep 29)
Notre Dame will have no trouble in this game versus the Cardinals. Players to watch for Notre Dame areĀ #CFC100 OLĀ Tyler Packer and #CFC100 DBĀ Deane Leonard.

[#CFCscores for SK]

No. 4 Leboldus Golden Suns (3-0, 1-0) v. Balfour Bears (1-2) (Thurs. Sep 29)
#CFC100 LBĀ Nick Cross andĀ #CFC100 RBĀ Semba Mbasela will be featured in the game for Leboldus.

No. 21 Holy Cross Crusaders (3-0) v. Bishop Mahoney Saints (2-1) (Thurs. Sep 29)

Game preview courtesy: Campbell Tartans

No. 27 Campbell Tartans (2-1) v. Riffel Royals (2-1)Ā

The game this week for Campbell versus RiffelĀ should be a good one as both teams are 2-1. Riffel has talented players at skill positions includingĀ #CFC100 RBĀ Kyle Borsa. This game is Campbellā€™s annual homecoming game. There should be lots of extra additions to the game day experience that should bring in a good crowd. Riffel usually has a good fan following at their games, so Leibel Field should be rocking.

The game is Friday, Sept. 30 at 5:15.

No. 41 Centennial Chargers (3-0) v. Walter Murray Mauraders (2-1) (Thurs. Sep 20)

Ā

[#CFCscores for MB]

No. 11 St. Paul’s Crusaders (3-0) v. Sturgeon Heights Huskies (2-1) (Thurs. Sep 29)
This game will featureĀ #CFC100 RB Shae Weekes.

No. 20 Vincent Massey Trojans (2-1, 0-1) v. Oak Park Raiders (2-1) (Thurs. Sep 29)
Trojans #CFC100 DEĀ Jalen Burley has been sitting out. We hope to see him play in this game.

[#CFCscores for NB]

No. 42 Tantramar Regional Titans (3-0) v. Mathieu-Martin Matadors (0-1) (Sat. Oct. 1)

[#CFCscores for NS]

No. 43 CP Allen Cheetahs (2-0) v. Sir John AĀ (Thurs. Sep 29)
