The Winnipeg Rifles & Edmonton Huskies served up a back and forth offensive battle in front of 592 fans at Canad Inns Stadium on Sunday afternoon. It went down to the very last play as the Green Gunners hung on to eke out a 43-36 win to even their 2010 record at 1-1.

The Harding Cup, an award in honour of long-time Burlington Braves and London Beefeaters trainer Dave Harding, will spend the next year in Burlington as the Braves defeated the Beefs 44-10 Saturday night in the second annual Harding Cup game.

• Chilliwack Huskers kick returner Ben Skerrett established a new BCFC career record for kick off returns. Needing three to break the former record of 65 that was held by former Rebels kick returner Joe Orel, Ben did it in fine fashion returning 11 to give him 74 in his career.

During Week 6 of the BCFC season all three games were lop sided scores as the winners outscored their opponents 163-28.

The second-year tailback from Winnipeg’s Sturgeon Heights Collegiate made his season
debut in Sunday’s 43-36 home opening win over the Edmonton Huskies.

Defence was the story of the game on Saturday (August 28) when Hamilton took on the visiting Brampton Bears at Ivor Wynne Stadium.
“The coaches provided us with a game plan and made us look good,” said linebacker and defensive player of the game, Aram Eisho.
