Could Tim Tebow change youth football in Canada?

Admit it, you laughed when you read the headline, then you hated me, but you clicked it and you’re here now so hear me out.

Football is a sport steeped in tradition. Like a large Tim Horton’s green tea with both bags in, the game is bitter in its rigid ways. The evolution of positional roles and players responsibilities has rarely changed in the last 30 years.

There have been Quarterbacks who punted (Dallas Cowboys Danny White), there have been receivers who played defensive back (New England Patriots Troy Brown), and recently in the Canadian Football League defensive lineman forced into offensive line duty via injury (Calgary Stampeders Quinn Smith).

What has rarely – if ever – changed in professional football is the make up of the quarterback. All coaches want to have that 6’4 230 pound monster arm with tactical understanding and precision accuracy. There are only so many of these specimens alive and durability, injuries etc have caused several of the ‘surefire’ success stories in that crop to fall short of expectations.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
