Hyack’s James is ready for the next level

Isaiah James has been playing football for 7 years, he says the game means everything to him and he enjoys everything about it.

“I’ve lived and breathed football since I was 11 years old.”

Currently a defensive tackle/guard for the #CFC50 No. 26 Nationally ranked, New Westminster Hyacks, with 20+ tackles and 4 sacks this season, the future is bright for James.

Standing at 6’0 and 260lbs, he makes an impressive force to be reckoned with on the field. Graduating in 2018, this young man has a few more years to hone his game before post secondary school. His favorite pregame meal is a classic spaghetti and meatballs while listening to rap caviar on Spotify. His pregame ritual is “ just music”.

For Isaiah, what he likes the best about his position on the field is being involved in the play.

“I love being able to hit somebody every play….I’m usually always in on the play because I am so close to the ball.”

 

Isaiah says his favorite player is JJ Watt because of how technically sound he is. He also adds that he has been watching football since the 2008 Superbowl.

His future plans for football include playing at the post secondary level, however, at this point he is focusing on high school and being successful in his academics so that when that opportunity arises he is prepared. He says that adjusting to the next level will be smooth because of his coach.

“I think I’ll be able to adjust very well because my coach tries to make our environment as close to post secondary as possible.”

His dad is one of the biggest reasons he loves football so much, but he also gives credit to his coaches for the positive roles they have played in his football career thus far.

“My dad really got me loving football so hes always been a huge part. Also, Farhan Lalji has always been a positive role in my football development, I really give all my accomplishments to my coaches.”

Isaiah won’t be sitting around during the off-season. To get ready for his senior year, he will be working on his lifts and strength training. He says, “ there is always room for improvement.”
