Jubinville named Bishop’s Director of Athletics & Recreation

SHERBROOKE – Bishop’s University is pleased to announce that Jean-Benoit Jubinville has been named Director of Athletics and Recreation effective November 3, 2014.

Jubinville makes the cross-town move from the Cégep de Sherbrooke where he was the Athletic Director for the last two years.

A former varsity athlete, Jubinville graduated from McGill University with an Education degree in 1993. While at McGill he was a running back on the Redmen football team. After graduating he obtained an English as a Second Language Teaching Certificate from the Université de Sherbrooke in 1995. He went on to have a successful career as an ESL and physical education teacher.  He is also an experienced football coach having led Cégep de Sherbrooke Volontaires from 2003 to 2011 and Séminiare de Sherbrooke Barons from 1994 to 2004.

“We are truly excited to have Jean-Benoit join our team at Bishop’s,” said the university’s Dean of Student Affairs Jackie Bailey. “He brings with him a wealth of experience in both high performance sport and recreation facility management. He is very well respected in our local Sherbrooke community, has a deep understanding of the RSEQ and is committed to excellence. I have no doubt that he will make a significant impact to the Bishop’s community and Gaiters athletics.”

Jubinville will take the reins of the Gaiters athletic programs as well as oversee the new sports complex and all its activities. He begins on November 3, 2014.
