KHAN: 10 Year War in the making

When we think of historical coaching rivalries in college football, the names of Ohio State’s Woody Hayes versus Michigan’s Bo Schembechler often come up. Today, these storied programs could have another budding competition with Urban Meyer and Jim Harbaugh.

This past weekend was the commencement of something special, the Canadian version of the 10-year war, between Concordia and McGill.

Led by two young hungry coaches in Mickey Donovan, and Ronald Hilaire, this game was chock full of emotional swings that by the end of it, you felt like a kid again where your mother would call you in for supper but you didn’t want the game to end.

For the last decade, the Stingers-Redmen clashes didn’t have much relevancy aside from city bragging rights.

However, that all changed on the third weekend of October. Entering this bout, the stakes were raised with a trip to the playoffs on the line.
