Local recruit gets special opportunity with Dinos

Calgary offensive lineman signs with CWUAA team.

Darth Hundal will get the opportunity to play alongside a blood relative this fall at the CIS level.

The 6’3, 263 pound offensive lineman has committed to the Calgary Dinos.  Hundal will join the team for the 2015 CWUAA season.

“I can call my brother Jansher a teammate for the first time in my life,” explained the Calgary, Alberta offensive lineman. “I always wanted to be on the same team with him and now I get that chance.”

Moreover, the strength of both the football and academic programs appealed to Hundal.

“I chose Calgary because they have established a winning culture here and I want to be a part of that,” commented Hundal.  “The team itself is one big family, when I worked out with them; they pushed and competed with each other to make themselves become better.”

“The academic support here is unparalleled, they not only want their players to be the best on the field but also in the classroom as well, they put academics first which is really important and that’s you want to have as a student athlete.”

Hundal has played for St. Francis Browns of the Calgary Senior High School Athletic Association (CSHSAA). This past season, he was selected as a Calgary Division 1 All-Star.

From peewee to midget level, Hundal has suited up for the Calgary Broncos organization. The offensive lineman won a gold medal while representing Calgary at the 2012 Summer Games.
