McMaster lands Red Deer recruit

Red Deer defensive back joins OUA team’s 2015 class.

Riley Pilkey has found the perfect fit.

Recently, the 6’1, 167 pound defensive back from Red Deer, Alberta committed to the McMaster Marauders.  Pilkey will join the team for the 2015 OUA season.

Among the factors that tipped the scale towards the Hamilton, Ontario campus was proximity as well as the strengths of both the academic and gridiron programs.

“The reason I committed to McMaster was because I felt that it was the best fit for me,” explained the Ontario defensive standout of his commitment.  “The reason that it was the best was because I didn’t want to go too far from home and only being 35 minutes away it felt perfect.”

“Another reason was the school itself, I want to go into the Social Sciences and after doing my academic visit, I felt that this was a great program to get into. I also want to get a minor in Business and found that this program as well top notch. Finally, I wanted to find a school that was competitive and after many of successful seasons, I knew that it was a perfect school to commit too.”

Pilkey is currently completing his final season with Jacob Hespeler Hawks of the Waterloo Country Secondary School Athletic Association (WCSSAA).  Furthermore, Pilkey has suited up for the Cambridge Lions of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).
