Ancaster linebacker joins OUA team’s 2016 class.

McMaster Marauders have announced the commitment of Nate Edwards to their football program.

Edwards, the 6’2, 220 pound linebacker from Ancaster, Ontario will join the team for the 2016 OUA season.

“We are very excited that Nate has chosen to study and play football here at McMaster,” commented Marauders Head Coach Stefan Ptaszek.  “Nate is one of the top linebackers in the province and it was important to us that he stays in Hamilton for university.”

“We know he will be a great contributor on and off the field and all of us here look forward to working with him in 2016 and beyond.”

For his part, the opportunity to contribute immediately as well as the ease he felt with both the school and football program and the top notch coaching staff was the main factors in Edwards’ decision.

“The reason I chose McMaster is because it is where I felt most at home and most comfortable as well as where I feel I fit in and have the best chance to make an impact,” elaborated Edwards.  “Also, I truly believe McMaster’s coaching staff is the best in the country and I felt it was the best place for me to develop as a player.”

Among the teams the defensive standout has suited up for include Bishop Tonnos Titans of the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic Athletic Association (HWCAA) and Hamilton Hurricanes of the Ontario Football Conference (OFC).

Moreover, Edwards has represented his province as a member of Team Ontario at the 2015 Football Canada Cup in Saint Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec and 2015 International Bowl in Arlington, Texas.
