Montreal, Quebec – Cherif Nicolas to speak Saturday on “Controlling The Box & Constraint Plays (Run Game/Formations)”

CEGEP head coach Cherif Nicolas is another great addition to the Montreal Coaches Clinic.  A lawyer by trade, Cherif has had tremendous success during his tenure at Vieux-Montréal.  After starting on the defensive side of the ball, Cherif moved to offense in 2013 and will be speaking about what he has done on that side of the football.

Cherif Nicolas
Head Coach and Linebackers coach

Cherif Nicolas is entering his 3rd season as the Spartiates head coach and his fourth season as a defensive coordinator. Lawyer in profession, in March 2010 coach Nicolas decided to leave the comfort of one of the biggest lawyers cabinet in the country to pursue his coaching career with the Spartiates organization. Before becoming the head coach he had been the linebacker coach in 2008 and the defensive coordinator in 2009. He occupied this role until 2011. It is in 2001, with the Notre-Dame college Cactus, that Coach Nicolas made his coaching debut as a defensive coordinator with the bantam team and a defensive line coach with the juvenile team. In 2004, Coach Nicolas joined the Spartiates coaching staff as the linebackers coach. In 2005, under the Jacques Dusseault’s watch, he acted as a defensive assistant for the Montreal Carabines. He then went back to Notre-Dame College to coach the linebackers in 2007 and defensive back in 2008. Moreover, in 2008 he acted as a defensive assistant with the Spartiates. Since the beginning of his coaching career he has won five championships. As a player Cherif Nicolas played for the Carleton Ravens in 1997 and 1998 until the program’s closure. He then transferred at Concordia University to play linebacker in 1999. In order to follow his law study’s, Coach Nicolas had to quit the Stingers for the University of Montreal law program. With the rebirth of the Montreal Carabines, Cherif Nicolas made a comeback to play the 2002 and 2003 seasons. M. Nicolas has a Bachelor’s degree in Arts and Sciences from Carleton University and a Bachelor’s degree in law from Montreal University. He is a member of the Quebec Barreau since 2004. His is also a Consultant/Trainer for the new National Coaches Certification Program (N.C.C.P.)
