Montreal football community mourns the loss of Milfort


The football community is morning the loss of a great young player and young person. Jean-Desir Fils Milfort of Montreal was involved in a car accident Sunday morning. Milfort lost his life in the accident. Details of the accident have yet to be released.

Milfort was a great young player who did not start playing football until he enrolled at John Abbot College, located in the west island of Montreal. He had committed to playing university football with the Concordia Stingers. CFC reporter Denis Dorian profiled him in December of 2011 – CLICK HERE for that article.

Friends and coaches of Milfort have expressed sorrow for the loss and have all said what a great young person he was. Details will be added to this article when received.

Concordia head coach Gerry McGrath has this to say:

“JD was an outstanding young man. I have never seen JD without a warm smile on his face, and a happy spring in his step. He always demonstrated a positive attitude and I have no doubt he would have become a great friend and teammate to all of us in the Stinger Family.

On behalf of The Concordia Stingers and The Concordia Athletics Department we wish our profound condolences to JD’S family and loved ones.”

Added June 15:
Visitation is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. at the Église Baptiste Evangelique Emmanuel church, followed by a funeral services at 4:30 p.m., according to Pastor Nicholas Cotnoir, who has been a friend of the Milfort family for more than a decade.
The Église Baptiste Evangelique Emmanuel church is at 4902 St. Charles Blvd. in Pierrefonds-Roxboro.
