New aura

Winnipeg lineman signs with CWUAA team.

Jeremy Williams wanted to go to a strong CIS program.

After much deliberation, the 6’1, 290 pound offensive lineman from Winnipeg has committed to the University of Manitoba Bisons for the 2014 CWUAA season.

β€œThe major factor of me committing to University of Manitoba would have to that the program is top notch,” commented Williams on his decision.Β  β€œI mean its right up there with Laval, Montreal, Calgary and McGill.”

β€œAdded to that, they got new facilities and pretty much a new aura about them.”

Moreover, the opportunity to stay home and suit up for the hometown CIS team was too good of an offer for the Manitoba offensive lineman to pass up.

β€œAlso, playing in front of my family and friends is a big deal to me because I really cherish them supporting me and making me becomes better day in and day out,” added Williams.Β  β€œBeing able to stay home and seeing my parents, sister and friends is also important to me as well.”

β€œLike I mean eating my mom’s home cooked meals each night, what’s better than that?”

Ultimately, Williams is hopeful that the Bisons’ will be the team that can help him develop into an elite CIS lineman in the years to come.

β€œI feel that I can blossom into a great football player with the resources that University of Manitoba has,” expressed the Manitoba lineman. Β β€œI mean during the offseason, they have Recruit Ready which plays a huge role into becoming better 365 days of the year.”

β€œI know they’ve made me progress far more than what I would have been able to during the cold winters. Followed by University of Manitoba’s off season training; it’s unbelievable. The coaches, obviously great coaches and I think that’s what did it for me – I wanted an offensive line coach that could propel me to being one of the best and with Coach Watson that is definitely achievable. So I guess committing to the University of Manitoba was a no brainer for me and I’m sure other recruits felt the same way.”

Williams joins the Bisons after completing a stint with the Vancouver Island Raiders in the British Columbia Football Conference (BCFC) in the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL).Β  Previous to the Raiders, the lineman suited up for the Oak Park Raiders of the Winnipeg High School Football League (WHSFL).
