• It's the final countdown in SMU head coaching interview process



    It's the down to the final stage in the interview process for the football head coaching vacancy at Saint Mary's University (SMU).

    SMU Director of Athletics and Recreation, Steve Sarty gives an update regarding the final phase of the interview process and the depth of the pool of applicants for the position.

    "I can confirm that we are down to our final two candidates and they are being interviewed in Halifax this coming Monday Feb 6th," says Sarty. "We are very pleased with the quality of candidates that applied and we feel both of the final two candidates would be great leaders of the Huskies football program."

    A source has disclosed that the two finalists for the vacancy are Perry Marchese and Leroy Blugh; however, SMU administration has not confirmed the names.

    When the selections committee get set to make final deliberations as who will be the next head coach of the SMU Huskies, the goal of achieving continued football excellence in the football program will be paramount in the decision.

    "We are very proud of the tradition of excellence we have established here at Saint Mary's University and continuing along that path is very important to us," comments the SMU Director of Athletics and Recreation.

    After the final interviews are completed on Monday, Saint Mary's will be offering the position to the desired candidate as soon as possible.

    "We will be making an offer to the candidate of choice as soon as possible as we know the team as well as community is eager to embrace the new leader of the program," comments Sarty.
