• Nova Scotia wins U-18 male gold medal at National Flag Championship

    Nova Scotia hosted the Junior Canadian National Flag Championship this past weekend in Halifax. The host province won a gold medal in the U-18 male category on Monday, a thrilling 16 to 15 victory over Quebec.

    Cody Cluett, who also represented Nova Scotia at the Football Canada Cup (tackle U-18 tourney) in Lethbridge 2 weeks ago, was the QB for the winning squad. Other members include Taylor MacDonald, Thomas Garagan, Ian Melanson, Riley Potter, Andrew Shaw and Jesse Rudel. Melanson was named offensive MVP of the tournament.

    Quebec went ahead late in the second half when they sacked Cluett for a safety (15-14). Andrew Shaw gave Nova Scotia the pivotal go ahead points when he sacked Quebec for a safety near then end of the game.
