• Toronto Lingerie team quits en masse: Professional league or Bush league?

Twenty of the original twenty-six players on Toronto's Lingerie Football Team (Toronto Triumph) are no longer with the team. Sixteen of the members quit after worries of their well being from insufficient coaching to insufficient equipment.

"We really just voiced our concerns about our safety, issues with the equipment and about the only coach with professional tackle experience being let go," former team member Dr. Michelle Crispe told CP24.

"We thought going in we were going to be treated as football players and be provided the right protection," former player Sandra Dalla Giustina added to the CP24 interview.

Deborah Poles, a former member of the Chicago Bliss from July 2009 to February 2011 and last season’s defensive player of the year, charges that league founder and chairman Mitch Mortaza exploits players for his own financial gain. Mortaza cuts costs by scrimping on safety measures like quality equipment and insurance coverage, she says.

Wow...ain't that surprising. Who would have guessed.

Self-descirbed at the 'fastest growing women's professional sports league in the United States' the league says 12 franchises are profitably.

Hamilton business men 'lost their shirts' when they hosted a Lingerie game earlier this year.

The league does not pay its players (as of March) and players pay a $45 fee to participate...sounds professional. Looking forward to the new franchises across Canada?
