    Frozen Football this Saturday! Man it was cold, but true to the game of football 32 teams took to the field today to compete in Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association’s Regional High School Finals and Football Alberta Minor Football Provincial Finals. Next week is the final week of amateur football in the Province with the Alberta Bowl High School Football Championships in Lethbridge on Nov. 25-26. More details this week.

    The highly anticipated semi-final game of the Tier 1 Nova Scotia Student Athletic Federation Football League (NSSAFFL) playoffs has the Charles P Allen Cheetahs travelling to Acadia to take on the Horton Griffins on Sunday afternoon.

    Both teams earned their spots in the semi-finals by scoring convincing victories in the quarterfinal round last week. The Cheetahs defeated last year's provincial runner-ups, the Sir John A MacDonald Flames 47-15. Meanwhile, the Griffins won their first home playoff game in three tries,

    The Cardinal Newman Cardinals held on to an early lead to outlast the St. Thomas More Knights in the Hamilton Catholic final. Dan Peterman caught 3 passes, 2 for touchdowns, and Eric Mezzalira had a touchdown and 135 yards rushing for the Cardiinals. QB Alex Hill was an efficient 7 of 11 passing.

    Ryan Nieuwesteeg accounted for 4 touchdowns as St. Paul's dominated Orchard park in the SOSSA senior football final. Nieuwesteeg finished the day with 239 yards rushing, 38 yards receiving and 4 touchdowns.
