The newly formed Football Canada Coaches Association (FCCA) is pleased to announce two speakers from the local area (Burlington, ON) at the 2011 FCCA CONVENTION being held April 2nd and 3rd in Burlington, Ontario at Corpus Christi High School. . Mike Samples, 11 year CFL pro and current Burlington Brave defensive coach, and Mike MacDonald, current RCMP Sgt. and Offensive line coach of the Burlington Stampeders & Notre Dame high school.
Samples will be speaking on Defensive Line play, a position excelled at during his career, being named an All-american (NCAA) and All-CFL player. MacDonald covers the other side of the line, a position he excelled at the University of Waterloo. Both coaches have had great success, winning an OFC Varsity title and Golden Horseshoe Bowl title in 2010. The last half of their presentations they will be grouping together to demonstrate a variety of drills & skills with their current players.

Head Coach and Oline Coach in the Burlington Stampeder Program for 11 years from Tyke to Varsity.
Oline Coach Notre Dame High School in Burlington for 6 years.
Played Guard for the University of Waterloo 1976 to 1980
Married with two sons. One plays DB at the University of Guelph, the other is a Centre/Long Snapper and is graduating from Notre Dame Burlington and currently considering offers to play at Queens, Laurier, and Guelph.
When not coaching football, is a Sgt. with the RCMP in his 27th year.
Mike Samples
Born in Missouri , Graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Kodak Division I College All American.
Drafted by the Atlanta Falcons 1973 and when released, signed with the BC Lions and went on to the Hamilton Tiger - Cats the following year.
Played 11 Years in the CFL 1973 - 1983 : BC Lions (1), Hamilton Tiger Cats (5) , Saskatchewan Roughriders (5) and is part of the Roughriders top 100 Players of all time and is on the Stadium Wall Of Fame . Eastern All Star , Western All Star and All CFL in Sask. and Mack Truck CFL 'D' Linemen of the year in 1981 .
Coached for Saskatchewan for 4 years and held positions of D - Line Coach and the Special Teams Coordinator during that period.
Moved back to Hamilton as a Sales Account Exec.with CHCH Television in 1988 and has been there ever since.
Helped coach in Hamilton Minor Football for a few years .
In 2008 got back more seriously into coaching with the Stampeders Varsity Team and Notre Dame High School in Burlington for the last 3 years as a Defensive Coach .
Notre Dame competed in the Championship Game for the OFSAA Golden Horseshoe Bowl the last 3 years and won it the last 2 years.
The Stampeders competed in the Championship Game for the Ontario Championship the last 3 years and won it two years.
Served as a D Line Guest Coach for the Calgary Stampeders in their 2010 Training Camp .
Looks at Coaching as Teaching young men to be the Best they can be and to Respect the Game and appreciate Football as the #1 Team Game in all of Sports.
Presently coaching Defense for the Burlington Braves in the Canadian Junior Football League .
