    CFC 'TOP QB' ARTICLE

    TOP 1993 BIRTHDATES

    1) John "Tyler" Varga
    Attachment 2818
    Kitchener, ON
Cameron Heights Gaels / Cambridge Lions / Team Ontario West - RB

    5'10" 215 lbs
    1993-09-24

    Commitment: None
    Considerations:
NCAA: Ivy League and FBS schools including and not exclusive to Baylor, Duke, Harvard, Columbia, Brown, Michigan
CIS: Western, McMaster, McGill, Queen's, UBC

Tyler Varga has scored a lot of touchdowns and played a lot of football in the last 3 years. Over 14 000 yards gained and over 150 touchdowns. We are tired just writing this.

His recent accomplishments include testing well at a variety of american camps, was the Football Canada Cup Offensive tournament MVP in July, helped lead the Cambridge Lions to a Junior Varsity final, and was named to the NUC All-World Classic game in January 2011. Tyler has declined an invitation by the International Federation of American Football & Football Canada to play for Team World (Official) in February 2011 to focus on his off season training.

Most importantly, his high academic achievements (over 90%) have opened up all doors to Tyler and his university commitment decision will be based on Academics first and Football second.

Tyler is the best running back in Canada.

    2. Jimmy Ralph
    Attachment 2820
    Raymond, Alberta
Raymond Comets - Receiver / Quarterback / Defensive Back / Returner

    1992-10-01
(Note: We have included Jimmy in the 1993 grouping because Albertans start high school in September)

    Commitment: None
Considerations: 6 football schools including BYU, Wyoming, Montana, and Nebraska; 2 basketball schools include BYU and Portland; and 1 baseball school is BYU.

Jimmy Ralph can do it all. And not just on the football field. In the summer of 2009 he played middle infield for the Team Canada Junior Team. He is probably the best point guard in Alberta. And oh yeah, just started playing football two years ago...and he is a 2-time alberta football MVP. Not bad.

The real question: Is he the best receiver in the family? Brett and Brock had, and have solid amateur and pro careers.

    3. Tevaun Smith
    Attachment 2819
    Toronto, ON
Chaminade College Gryphons / Metro Toronto Wildcats - Receiver / Returner

    6'1" 170 lbs
    1993-01-30

    Commitments: None
    Considerations:
NCAA: Albany, Syracuse, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Indiana State and Simon Fraser (Burnaby, BC)
    CIS: Western & McMaster

Tevaun Smith. like our other top CFC High School players, has had a tremendous senior season, helping lead his team deep into the Toronto district playoffs.

He is averaging 3 touchdowns a game this season and he is doing it both on the offensive side of the ball and returning the football. Like Varga, he was a recent invite by football company NUC to their showcase game in January, an accolade received after impressing in one of their Mid-West football camps, where he was named Receiver MVP.

Tevaun has 14 touchdowns in 6 games to date this season. And fast, he ran a 11.06 100 meter time last year at an Ontario high school meet.

    TOP 1992 BIRTHDATES

    1) Taylor Loffler
    Attachment 2817
    Kelowna, BC
    Kelowna Owls - DB/LB/QB/Returner

    6'4" 200 lbs
    1992-02-25

Commitment: Verbal - Boise State Broncos
    Position: Defensive Back

Taylor Loffler is mister do-it-all for the Kelowna Owls (BC - AAA Varsity). Whether it is lining up at QB, Receiver, defensive back, or returner he is a threat to make a big play. He has recently been slowed by a knee injury (missed recent game), but had lived up to his billing early in the year scoring TDs in all 3 facets of the game.

He holds multiple school records including rushing touchdowns and interceptions in game, season, and career.

Taylor is the most dynamic player in the nation.

    2) Arjen Colquhoun
    Attachment 2821
    Herman Griffins
    Windsor, ON

    6'1" 180 lbs
    1992-10-13

    Commitment: Verbal - Michigan State
    Position: Defensive Back

Speed. Arjen has lots of it. His 40 times have varied between 4.38 and 4.55 and has a wind-aided 11.1 100 meter clocking and 11.28 official time at an ontario meet last year. And like many of our top players is a big play player who has many multiple touchdown games under his belt.

Arjen spent a good part of the summer attending a variety of camps in the united states. This is a lesson many Canadian players could learn from. If you want a chance of lining up on an NCAA field you have to go to the United States to get noticed and to see if you are good enough to complete. Arjen is good enough and has a verbal commitment to Michigan State.

Arjen's main focus now is helping the Herman Griffins contend far into the playoffs. They are the top ranked Ontario team in the CFC 'top 25' high school poll, currently placing in at 3rd.
