Shane started his football career when he was in grade seven. His eventual high school, St.Thomas Aquinas, had a program open to grade seven and eight players to prepare them for junior high school football. Once Shane took part in this program, he was hooked on the sport. He ended up playing for the Ravens for four straight seasons.

In his grade 11 year, the star player made huge strides. He played for the Cornwall Wildcats in the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL). In the spring of 2010, Shane played for the community team, the Russell Renegades and was named team MVP. Additionally, he participated at the Football Canada Cup in Lethbridge, Alberta as a member of Team Ontario East.

Shane says that being named to Team Ontario East's roster has been the highlight of his football career thus far. The Ontario standout gives credit to a couple of coaches who have helped him along the way in achieving success on the field.

"The most influential people that pushed me to my full ability would be my high school coach, Nick Longval and also my OVFL head coach Kirby Camplin," says Shane.

Shane is not limited to football as he has a keen interest in other sports. He plays basketball and is a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Ravens team.

"Like any Canadian, I enjoy my fair share of hockey," adds the graduating standout from the Ravens.

Once the star defensive end/fullback graduates, he plans to attend college for one or two years to help him with the transition to university. Shane would like to pursue a future career in the health sector and is looking at options of becoming a paramedic or a personal trainer.

Through football, Shane has learned what it will take in order to achieve his goals and aspirations.

"I think the biggest thing I learned from football is nothing comes easy in life and you have to work for it to achieve your goals," says the star player. "For instance in the summer leading up to grade 11 ball, I knew I was going to be playing against bigger stronger faster guys, so I spent most of my summer training."
