• Chilliwack Huskers name new head coach

The Chilliwack Huskers in conjunction with the British Columbia Football Conference are pleased to announce their new head coach for the 2012 season; Tyson St. James.

The former Saskatchewan Roughrider and Winnipeg Blue Bomber takes over for Luke Acheson who resigned following the 2011 season. Acheson spent two years with the Huskers and was 0-20. He did lead his club to an exhibition win in Prince George prior to last season.

St. James is very familiar with the BCFC as an alumnus of the Abbotsford Air Force, but will be a first time head coach. Last season he was the defensive line coach at Simon Fraser University, finishing 3-7.

St. James knows taking over a winless team will be difficult, “Well it’s definitely going to be a challenge, but I believe that also is going to make me grow as well as the people that I surround myself with.”

The ex-UBC Thunderbird goes onto say that recruiting will be “from Chilliwack out.” He is a believer in home grown talent.

St. James has begun working with the organization and says priority #1 is filling the coaching staff.

The Huskers and the rest of the teams will begin winter works over the next few weeks as they wait for the BCFC to release the 2012 regular season schedule.
