Officials Kerr & Easton represent Football Canada at World Championship in Austria

In addition to the players and coaches representing Canada at the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) Senior Men’s World Championship in Austria, Football Canada would like to announce two additional Canadians — Barclay Easton of Ottawa, ON and Shawn Kerr of Calgary, AB have been selected as members of the IFAF officiating crew.

Chosen from a number of well-deserving candidates, Easton and Kerr were nominated by the Canadian Football Officials Association (CFOA), the governing body for football officials in Canada. Mr. Easton is entering his 19[SUP]th[/SUP] year as an official, having worked an estimated 1,080 games, including numerous local Ottawa high school and minor playoff games, the 100[SUP]th[/SUP] Yates Cup, the CJFL semi-final, both Senior and Junior OVFL finals, an OFSAA Bowl game and a total of 7 CFL games. Shawn Kerr has served as an official for 20 years over an estimated 1,200 games. Mr. Kerr has been officiating Canadian university football for the past 6 seasons, the CJFL for the past 10 and spent 4 seasons officiating in the CFL (2005-2008). His resume includes working the 2008 Hardy Cup as well as two CJFL National Championships — in 2006 and 2010.

Selected officials from all over the world will converge in Austria from July 8- 16 to ensure a safe and fair environment for all participants. This year marks the third consecutive IFAF Tackle Football World Championship in which Canadian officials have been selected, the previous two being the 2009 IFAF Junior World Championship and the 2010 IFAF Senior Women’s World Championship.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
