ONT (Halton): Lords win another nailbiter

The Lords continue to make things a little too exciting for their fans in 2013.

In a game which lacked offence and big plays, both teams were content with grinding the game out along the ground.

Nelson gained field position early off two Alex Fobert interceptions but could only manage field goals.

The Rams got a touchdown on a long run by running back Jon Howard in the second quarter and Adam Preocanin put the Lords ahead 9-7 at the half with his third field goal of the afternoon.

The second half was uneventful until the final minute. The Lords defence held MM Robinson out of the endzone to force a Rams 20-yard game winning field goal attempt with 40 seconds remaining. This time the heroics came from Eric Kells who blocked the field goal to secure the win.

The victory improves Nelson to 4-2 on the season with the finale next Friday against the Assumption Crusaders.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
