OVFL: Guelph Bears suffer another disappointing loss

The varsity Bears where defeated 49-25 by the SSM Sabercats this past Saturday (June 9th)

The Bears where hindered by injuries and penalties but nevertheless did managed to put up 454 yards of offence; Coach Macleod said hes happy that his offence is showing some improvement from past weeks but they will continue to make adjustments in practice.

Next week (June 16th) the Bears are facing the Cornwall Wildcats. Head Coach Macleod describes this game as “sink or swim.” and that his team needs to “get some respect back in this league [following our recent losses]”.

“I have the utmost confidence in our guys, it’s little mistakes here and there that get the better of us. if we can minimize or eliminate these mistakes then i have no doubt that we will be a force in this league.”
Junior Varsity

Junior Varsity also suffered a defeat on Saturday losing 76-13 to the Cumberland panthers. Injuries also played a factor in the JV’s loss as the Starting quarterback, center, halfback and one corner went out with injuries early.

“Poor fundamentals and injuries were key factors in our Loss… We need to learn that we can’t just show up and expect to win we need to out work the other team. We aren’t going to make any excuses. we are going to take advantage of our bye week and work on the fundamentals and prepare for Essex.” coach Douglas said fallowing the loss.

The varsity Bear are preparing for their game on the June 16th at 4pm against the Cornwall wildcats on Denis Field. The Junior Varsity Bears are enjoying their bye week and looking to regroup. both teams are 1-2 on the season.
