HALIFAX WEST WARRIORS (NSSAFFL – HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA):

After reaching the Provincial Tier 2 Division Final and coming up short against eventual champions, Prince Andrew Panthers, the Halifax West Warriors of the Nova Scotia Student Athletic Federation Football League (NSSAFFL) will be one of the teams making the move to Tier 1 this fall.

The Warriors come into this season inexperienced with a lot of newcomers not just to the team, but also the sport as well.

“Halifax West will be a very young team this year with a lot of kids who have not played any football before,” commented Warriors Head Coach Dave Kelly.  “We hope to improve each week and get better as the season goes on.”

In spite of fielding a youthful team, the Warriors do have some veterans and returning players that will be expected to provide leadership.

On offense, the team will be led by the tandem of pivot Justin Bower and running back/quarterback Anthony Yeadon.

Connor Grant and Sterling Wright will anchor the Warriors defensive unit.

As they prepare for the transition to playing in Tier 1, the Warriors know the competition will be tough.

“We are up in Division 1 this year and it should be a strong division with CPA, Sir John A, and Citadel being the top teams,” assessed Kelly.  “Auburn, Prince Andrew, and Horton should be very tough teams to also play against.”

Ultimately, the Warriors expect to be prepared for any challenge that comes their way in the hopes of prolonging their season this fall.

“We hope to come out and play hard and at the end of the season be in the mix for the playoffs,” expressed Kelly.
