Colin Grant was first introduced to the quarterback positon during a positional change when he was eight years old.

“I was switched from defensive back to quarterback,” recalled Grant.  “I had some success early so I stuck with it.”

Since then, the 6’0, 172 pound Grant has never looked back and has become passionate about playing the position.

“I love the feeling knowing that at the end of the day the ball is in your hands,” commented the Ontario pivot.  “I love the feeling of making plays both with my feet and my arm.”

“I always try to be a leader both on and off the field for my team.”

During his time with both the Huron Heights Warriors of the York Region Athletic Association (YRAA) and Newmarket Bucs of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL), Grant has emerged as a playmaker.

“I can deliver the ball but if the pocket collapses I can use my legs to escape,” added the Warriors quarterback.

On the field, Grant tries to emulate Carolina Panthers pivot Cam Newton’s playing style.

“I try to model my game after Cam Newton,” elaborated Grant.  “Although I don’t have the same stature that he does, I feel I’m a very strong runner but also can deliver the ball well.”

This weekend, the Warriors quarterback will participate in the QB Canada Mississauga Clinic where he hopes to extend his development even further.

“I’m looking forward to developing myself as a passer,” said Grant, who will also take part in the Ontario Prospect Challenge in early May as a member of the Team Central’s squad. “I never give up a chance to improve my skills as a passer.”

Ultimately, Grant hopes his gridiron experience as well as participation in events such as QB Canada will translate into success in achieving his gridiron goal.

“One thing I want to achieve as a quarterback would be being able to play for as long as I can and make the people around me better,” expressed Grant.
