RECAP: Cheetahs invincible, Cougars offense on the prowl, CFC 100 Joseph & Lusikila shine in victories

After five weeks of play in CEGEP Division 1, the Vanier Cheetahs appear to be unstoppable.

Khalil Kerr tallied two majors and amassed 111 yards on five receptions (average of 22.2 yards per reception) as the Vanier Cheetahs earned a 38-0 shutout victory over the FX-Garneau Elans.

Mathieu Bradley and Anthony Ragusa each scored touchdowns for the 5-0 Cheetahs.  Brandon Frombuena added five PAT’s.

Both Cheetahs pivots contributed to the victory.  Dimitri Sinodinos completed 12 passes in 25 attempts for 256 yards and three passing touchdowns.  Cullen Tennant completed 12 passes in 17 attempts for 152 yards and a passing touchdown.

Rehda Kramdi registered 6.5 tackles and Zack Fitzgerald caught two interceptions to lead the Cheetahs defense.  Kean Harilemana Jordan Perrin-Boutet, Philip Jean-Baptiste and Brinsley Smith each caught an interception.

As for the Elans, Alexandre Morgan-Zaor had 73 yards on four receptions (average of 18.3 yards per reception).  Nicolas Viens recorded a sack and racked up six tackles to lead the defense.  Laurence Poirier-Viens added 5.5 tackles.  Loic Jager also recorded a sack in the loss.

Cedric Joseph 2014 1

CHAMPLAIN-LENNOXVILLE COUGARS 49, EDOUARD-MONTPETIT LYNX 10:

At Coulter Field, CFC 100 Cedric Joseph scored two touchdowns (one passing, one receiving), had 101 rushing yards on 10 carries and 93 yards on two receptions (average of 46.5 yards per reception) as Champlain-Lennoxville Cougars cruised to a 49-14 victory over Edouard-Montpetit Lynx.

Neil Fraser-Brackett tallied two majors while Bechir Janfaoui added a touchdown score for the Cougars, who are now 4-1 on the season.

Pivot Michael Arruda completed 15 passes in 23 attempts for 332 yards, four passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown.  Dominic Levesque was successful on five conversion attempts.

Samuel Brodrique led the Cougars defense with nine tackles.  Antoine Roberge caught an interception while Jeremie Gagnon-Chenier recorded a sack.

Jean-Guy Rempel tallied the lone major for the Lynx.  Louis-Jean Guimond caught an interception while Pierre-Olivier Laurendeau, Julien Deschenes and Diego Cacheiro-Millett each had a sack in the loss.

Vieux-Montreal Spartiates 2014 1

VIEUX-MONTREAL SPARTIATES 28, LEVIS-LAUZON FAUCONS 15:

At Levis-Lauzon, CFC 100 Mike Brian Lusikila tallied two majors and rushed for 104 yards on 26 carries as the Vieux-Montreal Spartiates defeated the hosts Faucons 28-15.

Julien Bourassa also scored a touchdown for the Spartiates.  Luis Amaruso added three PAT’s.

Enock Makonzo had nine tackles while Andrew Seinet-Spaulding caught an interception and added 8.5 tackles to lead the Spartiates defense.  Xavier Angers-Gauthier caught two interceptions.

As for the Faucons, Olivier Fillion tallied a major and rushed for 127 yards on 22 carries. Nicolas Boissonneault also rushed into the end zone for a score.

On defensive, Jean-Philippe Levesque registered 13 tackles while Raphael Faucher racked up 11 tackles for the Faucons.  Olivier Dubois-Bergevin and Tristan Marchand-Lamothe each caught an interception in the loss.
