Vanier Cup Champions return to the field Monday

Montreal Ā – For the first time since winning the Vanier Cup last November, the Montreal Carabins will return to action at the team’s annual spring camp. This will be held at the Saint-Jean-Vianney College Sports Centre from March 2nd-7th.

It will be a remarkedly different camp ready on many levels. First, a couple of recruits will be taking their first steps with the team while other have finished their time with the Carabins.

“The 2014 edition is the past,” said Carabins Head Coach Danny Maciocia. Ā “Our training camp in 2015 will have a different identity.”

“This camp will precisely establish all phases of the game. We have the chance to work as a whole team together again. We will resume the Carabins lifestyle.”

Seven Carabins players will take part in the Canadian Football League Evaluation Camps (CFL) at the end of March. They will attend the spring camp, but see little action.

A special guest will be in attendance at the training camp. Former Carabins defensive lineman David MĆ©nard, who now plays for the CFL’s BC Lions will be an assistant coach of the defensive line.

“David brings the experience,” said Maciocia. “He is a player who knows that position well and he knows mostly what it’s like to be part of this team and what it takes to be a Carabin.”

MĆ©nard, who graduated in kinesiology, has been involved with the Carabins since January to support of the fitness coach Pierre-Mary Toussaint, who Ā coordinates the training of the players in the weight room.
