University of Alberta

The University of Alberta has strengthened their defensive line with the signing of DL Robbie Buffalo. Alberta’s newest recruit will make his way from Fort McMurray to Edmonton for the 2022 season.

Robbie chose the U of A because he wanted to go there since he was 5 or 6 when he first found out about university. He mentions, “It was first to further my studies in general, but as I got older, I realized that the other benefits of my family being there as well.”

To further his studies Robbie will be taking computer science with a specialization.

Robbie has played for the Fort McMurray Saints (WBFL). He started his football journey because teachers, coaches and friends asked him to join the team. At 6’3, 200lbs Robbie is playing mostly defensive line.

“I committed to the U of A as soon as they offered because it is the #1 school on my radar,” he states.

University of Calgary

Add one more to the defensive backfield of the Calgary Dinos. The Dinos will be welcoming CFC100 CB Lucas Yanchishyn from Winnipeg, Manitoba next season.

Lucas chose to commit to the University of Calgary because he believes they have the best program to further develop his football skills. “I aspire to play at the next level and U of C has a history of winning and sending players to the next level and that is something I really want to be a part of,” he replies. “At U of C they treat you like pro athletes because they are helping you become a pro athlete. In addition, U of C offers strong academic support with an academic advisor dedicated to just the football team.”

U SPORTS CONSIDERATIONS

At this time Lucas is undecided on what he will be enrolling in at the University of Calgary.

The 6’2, 170lbs defensive back grew up playing for the St. Vital Mustangs (MMFA), and later was on the Falcons Football Club (MMFA) during his final years of youth football. Lucas is now a member of the Dakota Lancers (WHSFL). He has had the opportunity to be on Team Manitoba and Recruit Ready.

Lucas Yanchishyn became a Calgary Dino on October 15th, 2021.

University of Saskatchewan

The University of Saskatchewan Huskies have signed a defensive lineman from Alberta. Calgarian DL Yianni Georgacacos will move to Saskatoon and put on the green and white of the Huskies in 2022.

Yianni stands at 6’0, 230lbs and suited up for the Springbank Phoenix of the Central Alberta Football League (CAFL) during his high school years. In the spring, Yianni has joined the Calgary Wildcats.

On October 12th 2021, Yianni Georcacos agreed to sign with the Saskatchewan Huskies.
