CFC50 2021 High School RANKINGS (WEEK 5): Another top ten falls as Grant Park crashes the party in Manitoba

We are witnessing one of the most competitive years in the history of the CFC50 Rankings, and there’s no way of predicting where the next upset will come from.

We thought Manitoba provided drama last week, but Grant Park took it to the next level with a huge 11-7 victory over former top ten Vincent Massey. They are now primed for a top ten position if they can somehow find a way past perennial powerhouse St. Paul’s, who dropped their first contest of the season to Massey.

It was finally a relatively quiet week in Quebec, but that didn’t help the rankings at all. We’ve still got a logjam formed with Charles-Lemoyne leading the way in the top ten, but the real craziness is about to begin as they all begin to play each other as they race towards the playoffs.

Elsewhere St. Thomas More held off their long time rivals from Cardinal Newman to keep their winning streak alive, but as always the Cardinals should get another kick at the can down the road in the championship game where anything can happen.

Joining Grant Park as newcomers this week are Sardis, Ernest Manning, Barrie North and Ashbury as the country continues to shake off the cobwebs to reveal the true hierarchy.

Who’s getting ranked?

For the tenth year in a row, Canadafootballchat.com (CFC) is pleased to bring you the national high school football rankings known as the CFC50.

The CFC50 rankings considers all conference and non-conference games (in Canada and the United States) while scrimmages are not evaluated (there is no such thing as an exhibition game – those are classified as non-conference games) and forfeit* wins are not considered towards overall record.

How is the CFC50 evaluated?

Leagues included in rankings: British Columbia AAA Varsity, Alberta Tier One, Saskatchewan 12-man rural / 6A / Schwann, Manitoba AAA Varsity, Ontario OFSAA Bowl AAA qualified teams, Quebec Juvenile Division 1, New Brunswick 12-man, Nova Scotia (all teams excluding CFC25 eligible teams).

The CFC50 is a RELATIVE RANKING that considers top tier leagues from all eight high school playing provinces (minimum one team represented from each province) and the strength of the league. Additional criteria used to determine the relative ranking are the ability to accomplish winning a championship, the impact players and performers on that team (ie. CFC100s, CDN All-Stars etc.), and a team’s coaching and recent tradition.

The CFC Scouting Bureau consists of CFC Reporters, CFC Scouts, and selected local reporters and scouts who submit local ranking results on a weekly basis. The CFC50 is released every Monday (other than on Holidays) at 12 noon.
