Fox 40 Prospect Challenge (Central): Rider Corsi has Division 1 dreams

Antonio Corsi started playing football with the Myers Riders at the age of seven. “I knew I loved it the moment I had the ball in my hands” said Antonio.

The Rider started out playing centre, then moved to running back and wide receiver. “I find I’m getting better every year with the help of my coaches, and the camps in the offseason,” added Antonio. He has trained with Elite Performance in the past, and now he is training with Gridiron in the offseason.

Corsi has also had the privilege to play for the Fox 40 Prospect Challenge for the past three years, and was awarded MVP last year.

“It was the best day of my life,” stated Antonio. “I hope I make the team this year again so I can challenge myself more to become the best I can to help my team win.”

This year, Antonio will be joining the Ottawa Sooners in the Ontario Football Conference (OFC) and Football North Prep in the fall. “My favourite coach Ron Raymond will be coaching me this year and I’m excited to be coached from him,” continued the Rider. “I’ve been blessed to have the support of my parents, they’ve taught me that it takes hard work and respect to achieve what I love.”

“My goals are to play in the American high school league and challenge myself to be the best I can be to my coaches and teammates on and off the field,” added Antonio.

Antonio’s schooling is also very important to him, so he works hard to keep his grades up. Even though university is years away, his goal is to eventually be blessed with Division 1 offers. “It’ll take a lot of hard work and discipline to get there, but I’m willing and ready to do it,” explained Antonio. “Football is my passion.”

He likes football because it is a great sport to play and he has made plenty of friends over the years and finishes by saying, “Football is very much a team sport and it takes the support of the whole team to make a win, that’s what I love.”
