Fox 40 Prospect Challenge (West Coast): Trush loves playing with his “brothers”

The feeling of Friday Night Lights is enough to make anyone get shivers down their spine. Many football players express this rush when they step out on the field for game day. Taylor Trush is no different.

“So far my football experience to date has been awesome,” he says. “Just the feeling of stepping onto the field and being able to play with all your brothers is just a unreal feeling because all your brothers have your back, so if one guy falls down there’s always another brother to pick him up.”

At 5’9 and 175-pounds, Trush has been playing for just two years. He currently suits up with the Rutland Voodoos in the BC High School Football League, but has been invited to play on Team BC and other elite all-star games.

Trush plays linebacker and fullback and is hoping that he can showcase his football ability at the CFCFPC and beyond.

My goal for the CFCFPC is to gain exposure to Universities and Colleges and also prove to all the coaches that I have what it takes to make it to the next level.”

One of my ultimate goals for my graduation year of 2018 is to be on the CFC100, but to be in the top 10 would be my biggest goal because then I would get the highest level of exposure to all the Universities and Colleges,” explains Trush.

And while he has set these high goals for himself, he also hasn’t lost the enjoyment of playing football and expresses this in why he looks up to Rob Gronkowski of the NFL New England Patriots.

Even though my football idol doesn’t play linebacker, my idol is Rob Gronkowski who plays for the New England Patriots because of the way he acts and plays the game of football.” He adds, “Also, the best thing I like about Gronkowski is his touchdown celebration because it’s just a simple, but awesome celebration.”

In the off-season, Trush works hard by working out five to six days a week to increase his overall strength, does at least one day of speed training as well as plyometrics. He does this to improve his football skill and abilities to be able to achieve his dreams.

But in the end it comes down to why you love football.

The reason why I love to play football is because I love the excitement of stepping onto the field and being able to play with your brothers and being able to make the big play for your team.”
