Huron Heights claimed their first York region championship since 2008 (the end of a 4-year run) on Saturday, defeating the 2-time champions from King City.Ā Cody Murrell scored the Warriors first touchdown of the game, nullifying a 7 to 0 lead by the Lions.Ā The Lions lost the services of their most dangerous threat, running back Marcus Arkarakas, in the third quarter when he was crumpled by a hit in the Warriors backfield by defensive back Jeff Lam on an incomplete pass.Ā Ā Warriors coach Heath Weir commented “King City came out swinging and we managed to hang in there. It was two heavy-weights in the ring exchanging blows, we we’re lucky enough to be the teamĀ standing in the end.”
