CJFL: BCFC “BC Lions Players of the Week” 4

The British Columbia Football Conference is pleased to announce their “BC Lions Players of the Week” for Week 4.

In Westshore the Rebels would rush for 332 yards against the Chilliwack Huskers and leading the way was the “BC Lions Offensive Player of the Week;” Greg Morris.  The second year rusher carried the rock 12 times for 260 yards and three touchdowns, including an 85 yard scamper.  His average carry was 21.6 yards.  Morris also caught a four yard pass for a touchdown.  He would account for 24 of the 66 points the Rebels would score.

On the defense side of the ball, a new Canadian Junior Football League record was set by the “BC Lions Defensive Player of the Week.”  Okanagan Sun defensive lineman Steven Doege recorded 1.5 sacks in Week 4, giving him 37.5 for his career, setting the new CJFL All-Time Sack Record.  The mark Doege broke had stood since 1989.  Doege also made three solo tackles.  It’s the second time this season he has won this honour.

On Sunday the Westshore Rebels kickoff unit saw a lot of action as the home side scored 66 points.  The “BC Lions Specials Teams Player of the Week” is Rebels kicker Quinn Van Gylswyk.  The veteran hit two field goals from 32 and 47 yards out and was a perfect seven for seven in converts. He would rack up eight kickoffs for 433 yards, and two punts for 67 yards.  It’s the second time this season Van Gylswyk wins this honour.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
