CJFL: “Russell Athletic Players of the Week”

The Russell Athletic CJFL Offensive Player of the Week is Langley Rams quarterback Greg Bowcott.  One of the major reasons the Rams knocked off the six time defending BCFC champs in the Cullen Cup was the play of Bowcott.  The first year pivot finished 10 of 20 for 247 yards and threw two touchdowns, both in the first quarter.  Bowcott would also keep drives alive by rushing six times for 18 yards.

The Russell Athletic CJFL Defensive Player of the Week is Langley Rams defensive lineman Evan Foster.  During the regular season the Rams had the stingiest defence in the BCFC.  That fact continued in the Cullen Cup championship, holding the top offence in the country to just 13 points and just three points in the second half.  Foster would make four solo tackles, two assists and recorded the only two sacks for the Rams.

The Russell Athletic CJFL Special Teams Player of the Week is Saskatoon Hilltops kicker Zach Schmidt  The 3rd-year kicker notched seven converts in the Hilltops 51-7 win over London in addition to averaging 44.9 yards per kickoff. Schmidt also punted five times, averaging 35.8 yards/punt on a chilly afternoon.

The 2012 Canadian Bowl will kick-off Saturday November 10, 2012 when the Langley Rams host the Saskatoon Hilltops.  The Rams are making their first trip to the Canadian Bowl since 1992, while the Hilltops are two time defending champions.  Kick-off from McLeod Stadium is 1:00pm.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
