Dechaun was the offensive player of the year in the Nova division where he compiled 1514 yards rushing on 62 carries (24.4 yard average…wowser), had 14 rushing TDs and 3 receiving TDs.

He also runs provincial track, where last year he came second in hurdles and 1st in long jump with a distance of 6.5 m.

His team, the Phoenix, are the first 3-time repeat champions in Nova Scotia since the 1980s.

His most memorable football experience was in grade 10 during a semi-final game in the 4th quarter when he broke an 80 yarder to the house to tie the game.

Dechaun told CFC that there have been two people integral to his football development. “Head coach Mike Tanner and former RB coach Bobby Lewington, if it wasn’t for the hills we ran, early morning practices and their ability to test our skills everyday , I wouldn’t be the player I am today”.
