Peter’s football greatness began in grade seven. For the past four seasons, the star offensive player has been part of the peewee, junior varsity and senior Metro Toronto Wildcats teams in the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL). While with the Wildcats, he was twice named team lineman of the year. Furthermore, Peter was junior varsity OVFL all-star in 2009 and senior OVFL all-star in 2010.

However, the offensive lineman’s greatest achievement came while playing with his high school team, the St. Andrew College Saints. This past season, the Saints had a successful campaign as the team won a Canadian Independent School Athletic Association title (CISAA) against Upper Canada College and earned a trip to the Metro Bowl in the OFSAA league, where they were finalists.

Winning the CISAA title was a highlight for Peter. He says the opportunity to play the title game at the Rogers Centre under the lights while having the game televised was a great experience.

The journey of how the Saints got to the Bowl game rivals the experience of playing in the CISAA title game as a memorable highlight for the offensive standout.

“We narrowly defeated King City in triple overtime, and before that we beat UCC on a last second drive,” explains Peter who also played with the Northern Red Knights. “Pretty much have the last three games of the season coming down to the last few minutes and overtime.”

Most recently, Peter has achieved significant feats. This past July in Lethbridge, Alberta, the grade 11 player served as captain of Team Ontario East at the Football Canada Cup. Additionally, Peter was a starting guard in the GTA all-star game.

In January 2012, the offensive lineman travelled to Texas to participate in the Team World developmental team, where he practiced and competed against the best high school and university players.

While Peter has been fortunate to have many instruct him on the field over the years, two coaches have shaped the young player’s football career.

One is Saints head coach Len Gurr.

“Len Gurr is not just one of the top head coaches and offensive line coaches in the province; he is basically my life coach,” says the Saints offensive star. “I mean, I pretty much call on him for help in anything.”

“Whether it’s athletics, academics, or even non- school related things, I know I can trust him with anything.”

The other is the Saints offensive coordinator and former CFL assistant coach Michael Carroll.

“It’s the same way with Michael Carroll,” explains Peter. “He is an excellent person to have in my life inside and outside of football.”

A key influence on all aspects of the offensive lineman’s life has been his family, especially his parents and grandparents. Not only have they have steered Peter into the right direction on and off the field, but have been supportive in all his endeavours.

“My dad has made it to every one of my football games since I started playing and I can’t thank him enough for that,” adds the Saints standout. ” There’s not much else I can say except without them I wouldn’t be who I am today.”

Peter has some interests away from football that he partakes in his spare time. Those include playing basketball, weight training, and camping/outdoors activities.

At this point, the star grade 11 player is unsure of what he would like to pursue as a future career. However, he is leaning towards studying kinesiology at university.

Whether he plans to pursue future goals on or off the field, Peter knows the recipe for success in achieving them.

“Hard work pays off,” explains Peter. “Basically the work you put in is what you’re going to get out of it.”
