Football Canada Cup QBs: Meet Team Sasks’ Andreychuk, Marwick, & Picton

As part of its extensive Football Canada Cup coverage CFC will be profiling the “Quarterbacks of the Football Canada Cup”. The Football Canada Cup takes place July 9 to 16th in Lethbridge, Alberta. The teams competing in the Under-18 format include British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario-West, Ontario-East, Quebec & Nova Scotia. Today we profile the Quarterbacks from the defending champions, Saskatchewan:

Jared Andreychuk (Centennial)

Class 2012

Jared has been playing quarterback for seven years. He started at age ten for the peewee Arns Falcons, playing with them for three years, then two years with the bantam Arns Falcons. In grade 10 and 11 he has played senior football at Centennial Collegiate.

Jared has been coached by quarterback coaches Tyler Mackenzie with the falcons and Shane Reider with Centennial.

When asked about this years Football Canada Cup Jared had this to say. “I’m very excited to be going to Canada Cup in Lethbridge. I’m looking forward to seeing how myself and our team matches up against the best players in the country.”

Jaeden Marwick (Winston Knoll)

Class 2013

Jaeden has been playing quarterback for four years. He played on the Pee Wee Huskies and Winston Knoll Wolverines. He has also played on spring league teams – Blackout & Tight White.

His two coaches during his QB career have been Ryan Marwick and Tate Quest.

When asked about this years Football Canada Cup Jared had this to say. “Very excited to participate in the tournament. Can’t wait to show people what I can do and to represent my team and province.”

Noah Picton (Dr. Martin LeBoldus)

Class 2013

Noah has been playing quarterback for over 6 years. He started playing for the Regina Minor Football Atom Bears, Pee Wee Mustangs, Bantam Raiders, and was the starting quarterback for the Dr. Martin LeBoldus Golden Suns High School football team this past season.

His Quarterback coach growing up has always been his father, Dean Picton, who was a quarterback for the Regina Rams during their times in the CJFL. Also Bernie Schmidt, the O.C. of the University of Regina Rams has also trained Noah as a quarterback for the past couple of years.

When asked about this years Football Canada Cup Noah had this to say. “I’m very anxious for this year’s Canada Cup. I think it will be a great learning experience for myself, along with many of the other players. I’m looking forward to being able to compete for a National Championship and playing against high caliber players and football teams from across the country.”
