Playoff  action commences in both Tier One and Tier Two this week. 

Tier  One Senior semi-final games will be played Tuesday, November 9th commencing at 12:00 noon

Pickering at Wilson

St. Mary at Holy Trinity

Tier  One Junior semi-final games will also be played on Tuesday, November 9th commencing at 2:00 p.m.

Holy Trinity at Pickering (to be played at Holy Trinity as Pickering field is unavailable)

St. Mary at Wilson Tier 

Two quarter-final games will be played Thursday, November 11th with all games for both Senior and Junior divisions commencing at 2:00  p.m.

Uxbridge at Sinclair O’Neill at Eastdale

LOSSA  Week Six Recap

Tier  One Senior

Wilson  25, Holy Trinity 21

Chivon Gallagher’s rouge from a wide field  goal early in the final quarter put the Gators ahead to stay in a battle of the two  remaining undefeated teams.  Both teams lived up to their pre-game billing in a tightly contested match which saw the score knotted at 7, 14 and 21.   Greg Morris with two touchdowns from a 40 yard pass reception and 52 yard run  paced the Gator attack while Svend Tamburro (49 yard run) and Tyler Ganhao (40  yard pass) each posted big yardage touchdowns for Holy Trinity.

Pickering  49, Richardson 7

Pickering (3-3)  avoided a losing season for the first time since 2001 with a 49-7 victory over  the Storm as Tristan Clough returned to the line up and recorded three  touchdowns.  Quarterback Mike Stobbart contributed 19 scoring points with two majors and a  perfect seven for seven in conversion attempts.  Toi Simon replied for Richardson.   The Trojans will now play Wilson, who won the regular season match 19-14 during week two.

St.  Mary 20, Ajax 0

The (4-2) Monarchs closed out regular season  play with a 20-0 win over the winless Ajax Rams.  Quarterback Keith Cyrus was the offensive star as he recorded two touchdowns.  Daniel Tomei chipped in with one.  The Monarchs, who allowed a division low 48 points against in six games, will now play at  Holy Trinity.  During week three, Holy Trinity overcame an eight point half time deficit to turn back St. Mary 22-16.

Tier Two  Senior

Pine  Ridge 30, Denis O’Connor 0

The Pine Ridge Pumas secured second place in  the Tier Two Senior division as they shut out the Denis O’Connor Chargers 30-0.   Andrew Brownlee led the offensive effort with three majors while Randall Innis  chipped in with one and Duncan Mitchell posted six points from three converts  and a field goal.  The Pumas will now host Notre Dame in quarter-final  action.  The two schools met during week four with Pine Ridge prevailing 22-8.

Notre  Dame 32, St. Stephen 6

Jordan Urquhart scored five touchdowns on  short runs from the one, nine, four, three and one yard line(s) to enable the Cougars to  finish the year with a record of 3 wins and 3 losses.  With the loss, St.  Stephen finished with a record of one win and five losses however they capture the final playoff spot ahead of Denis  O’Connor under the league tie breaking rules.  The Royals will now play Port  Perry.  These two schools met in week three with the Rebels winning 41-14.

St. Stephen: Bryson St. Dennis TD
Sinclair  32, Bowmanville 0

The Sinclair Celtics closed out their regular  season schedule with a 32-0 shutout over the Bowmanville Talons.  Jaiden  McBride tallied eighteen scoring points with a three touchdown effort, while  Akeem Daley used his toe to post eight more points from two converts and two  field goals.  The Talons miss post season play.  Sinclair will host Uxbridge in first round action.  Sinclair will be looking to reverse the regular season result where Uxbridge recorded a 21-0 victory during week  seven.

The fourth quarter-final game will be played at Eastdale.  The Eagles will be  hosting the O’Neill Red Hawks.  Both teams finished with identical 4-2 records and they did not meet during regular season play.

Tier  One Junior

Wilson  29, Holy Trinity 12

Andrew Smith and Sanjay Francis each scored  two touchdowns, as the Junior Gators secured home field advantage for the semi-finals  with a 29-12 win over Holy Trinity.  Wilson will host St. Mary, whom they played during week four, winning that  match14-0.

Pickering  55, Richardson 0

Pickering upped their season scoring total to 256 points in six games as they romped to a 55-0  win over the last place Richardson Storm.  The Trojans will open the playoffs playing Holy Trinity who they defeated  40-18 during week six action.

St.  Mary 38, Ajax 7

The Junior Monarchs finished the season with  back to back wins tallying 78 scoring points over the two coontests.  Touchdowns were recorded by Ty Watson and Tahjay Allen, each with two, Danield  Toughlagian and Peter Higginson.  Chris Hay replied for the Rams, who miss the playoffs with a 1-5 record.

Meschach Green’s punt return, with just over a  minute remaining in the game, proved to be the winning touchdown.  The win  secured a perfect season for the Junior Pumas, who now have a first round  playoff bye.  The Tigers finish third and will host O’Neill, whom they defeated 21-6  during week three play.

Eastdale  35, O’Neill 0

Riley Palmer’s four touchdowns paced the  Eagles to a 35-0 win over O’Neill allowing Eastdale to finish the season with a record of 5-1.  By finishing second, Eastdale receives a first round  bye.

Dunbarton  34, St. Stephen 0

This game was a quarter-final preview as the  schools were playing for home field advantage in the opening round of the playoffs.  With the win, Dunbarton will host the Royals.  Although Dunbarton won the tune up  handily, the game was very much in doubt at halftime as the Spartans lead was  only one converted touchdown.
