NCAFA (Ottawa Minor): Week 6 report


Some highlights from week 6 in NCAFA action.

TYKE (Under 11)

Outstanding defence from Marc Webb kept this one close until the 4[SUP]th[/SUP]. Sebastien Latour-Smith led the Giants offense, Ilyas Abji scored his first TD.

Bengals’ Kobe Armstrong returned a kickoff 35 yards for a TD. Orleans 37 – Generals 6.

With the Stephen family in attendance, the Nepean Redskins officially unveiled their new scoreboard at Bob Stephen Field. It got lots of use! Tyrell Brown had another big game, as did Jackson McArtney. Redskins 49 – Riders 23.

MOSQUITO (Under 13)


Highlight of the week : The Kanata Knights won their first game in two years, blanking West Carleton 44-0!

Myers Riders got TD’s from Brian Franklin, Tyler Thompson and Mark Straw. Donovan McLean, Kyle Morley and Daniel Turenne lead the defense in a 22-16 win over Nepean.

After starting the season as an OL, Quinn Williams had 2 carries and scored a TD! Isaac Magloire scored twice. Jamal Mavinga and Amanuel Samuel lead the defense in East Ottawa’s 46-0 win over Orleans.

Redskins’ O-line had their best game of the year, lead by Liam Robinson. Jacob Spinalla thew TD’s to Jackson Dunning and Joel Briere in a back and forth 22-16 loss to the Riders.

Brockville lead 19-8 until Bel-Air stormed back with TD’s from Scott Waddell and JP Ciminkinda to win 24-19. Great D from Alex Childs and Liam Paquette.

PEE WEE (Under 15)

Daniel Barker, Nick Cavanagh, Akash Bakshi, Wilsen Choi, Sasha James, and Connor Mackey lead the defense. Connor Ayre kicked a 20 yard FG. Cole Haggar and Harrison Tallyoe connected for a TD in the Redskins’ 16-9 win over Myers.

This battle of neighbours ended with a Canterbury victory over South Gloucester (19-14). Mustang’s D held the Raiders to just one touchdown per half, while Tony Nzolgba tossed TD’s to Jean-Baptiste Kesenda and Julien Moore.

BANTAM (Under 17)

Myers had TD’s from Rouben Charles (2), Justin Butler, Connor Lisle, and Costa Jones, and interceptions from Harley Eastman, Ty Elliott and Shayne Cowan-Cholette. Nepean’s Tristan Nault returned a blocked punt 50 yards and Justin Bosquet scored the team’s only TD. Myers 35, Redskins 13.

Stanley Lodge lead the Generals’ offence with clutch running, while Jamahll Charles (leading scorer in Generals history) added another major. Cody Ullett and Kevin Charles kept it close, but East Ottawa fell to Orleans 20-7.

MIDGET (Under 20)

Kyle McLean threw 3 TD’s (2 to Kevin Gayton), and ran for another as the Redskins win over the Colts 35-8.
